Biography
2Pac (born Tupac Amaru Shakur) was an American rapper, actor, and social activist. Born in New York City, he moved to Los Angeles in 1988 and began his career as a roadie, backup dancer, and MC for the alternative hip hop group Digital Underground. He released his debut solo album 2Pacalypse Now in 1991.
Musical Career
2Pac quickly gained popularity with his socially conscious lyrics and confrontational style. His breakthrough album, Me Against the World (1995), reached number one on the Billboard 200 chart. His next two albums, All Eyez on Me (1996) and The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory (1996), were released after his death and both reached number one on the Billboard 200.
Influences and Musical Style
2Pac was heavily influenced by the works of the Black Panther Party, Malcolm X, and the teachings of the Nation of Islam. His music was heavily influenced by the African-American culture of the West Coast, and his style was often characterized by his hard-hitting, often confrontational lyrics. He was also known for his ability to create powerful and emotional songs.
