Biography:
50 Cent is an American rapper, actor, and entrepreneur. Born Curtis James Jackson III on July 6, 1975, he is one of the most successful rappers of all time. Growing up in South Jamaica, Queens, New York, he was raised by his mother and grandmother after his father was killed when he was eight years old. He attended Andrew Jackson High School and later dropped out to pursue a career in music.
Musical Career:
50 Cent began his musical career in 1996 with the release of his first mixtape, Power of the Dollar. He quickly gained notoriety in the rap world, and in 2002 he signed with Eminem and Dr. Dre’s Shady Records. His debut album, Get Rich or Die Tryin’, was released in 2003 and became an instant hit. It sold over 8 million copies and was certified 8x platinum. He has since released five more albums, and has collaborated with numerous other artists.
Influences and Musical Style:
50 Cent’s music is heavily influenced by the gangsta rap of the early 1990s. He is known for his aggressive and often violent lyrics, as well as his use of storytelling. He has also been influenced by the works of Tupac Shakur, Nas, and Notorious B.I.G.
