Adele Laurie Blue Adkins, MBE, is an English singer-songwriter. She was born on 5 May 1988 in Tottenham, London, and she began singing at the age of four. Adele graduated from the BRIT School for Performing Arts & Technology in Croydon in May 2006, where she was classmates with Leona Lewis and Jessie J.
Musical Career
Adele released her debut album, 19, in 2008. It was certified four times platinum in the UK and double platinum in the US. The album contained the singles "Chasing Pavements" and "Hometown Glory", which both reached the top 10 in the UK. Adele's second album, 21, was released in 2011 and was even more successful. It was certified 16 times platinum in the UK and six times platinum in the US. The album spawned the singles "Rolling in the Deep", "Someone Like You" and "Set Fire to the Rain", all of which reached number one in the UK.

Adele has cited a variety of influences in her music, including Etta James, Ella Fitzgerald, Dusty Springfield, and Roberta Flack. She has also been influenced by contemporary artists such as Amy Winehouse and Duffy.
