Arctic Monkeys is an English indie rock band formed in Sheffield, England in 2002. The band consists of Alex Turner (lead vocals, guitar, keyboards), Jamie Cook (guitar, keyboards), Nick O’Malley (bass guitar, backing vocals), and Matt Helders (drums, backing vocals).
Biography
The band formed in 2002, when Turner and Cook began writing songs together. They released their debut album, Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not, in 2006. The album was a critical and commercial success, becoming the fastest-selling debut album in British music history. The band has since released five more albums, each receiving critical acclaim.
Musical Career
The band has released six studio albums, the most recent being Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino in 2018. They have also released two live albums, At the Apollo in 2008 and Live at the Royal Albert Hall in 2011. The band has also released a number of EPs and singles, including the popular hits I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor, When the Sun Goes Down, and R U Mine?

The band’s music is heavily influenced by 1960s rock and roll, punk rock, and indie rock. They are also influenced by a variety of other genres, including hip hop, funk, and jazz.
