Biography
Shawn Corey Carter, known professionally as JAY-Z, is an American rapper, songwriter, record executive, entrepreneur, and record producer. Born and raised in New York City, he first began his musical career in the mid-1990s, after which he released his debut studio album, Reasonable Doubt, in 1996. He has since released twelve additional albums, and won twenty Grammy Awards for his musical work, making him one of the most critically acclaimed and successful hip hop artists of all time.

JAY-Z's musical career began in the mid-1990s, when he formed the hip hop group, Roc-A-Fella Records. He released his debut album, Reasonable Doubt, in 1996, and it was met with critical acclaim. Since then, he has released twelve additional albums, including The Blueprint (2001), The Black Album (2003), Kingdom Come (2006), American Gangster (2007), Magna Carta Holy Grail (2013), and 4:44 (2017). He has also collaborated with a variety of other artists, including Kanye West, Eminem, and Rihanna.
