Biography
Kygo (real name Kyrre Gørvell-Dahll) is a Norwegian DJ, record producer, musician and songwriter. He is best known for his remixes of popular songs and his own singles, such as “Firestone”, “Stole the Show”, “It Ain’t Me” and “Carry Me”. He was born on September 11, 1991 in Singapore and raised in Bergen, Norway.
Musical Career
Kygo began producing music in his early teens, and by the time he was 18 he had released his first single, “Ease”. In 2013, he gained recognition after his remix of the track “I See Fire” by Ed Sheeran was played by millions of people on YouTube and SoundCloud. This led to him being signed to Sony Music International in 2014. Since then, he has released two studio albums, Cloud Nine (2016) and Kids in Love (2017), as well as a number of singles and remixes. He has also collaborated with a number of artists, including Selena Gomez, U2, John Legend, and Imagine Dragons.
Influences and Musical Style
Kygo’s music is a blend of tropical house, indie pop, and EDM. His influences include Avicii, The Chainsmokers, and Calvin Harris. He has also cited Coldplay, Bon Iver, and James Blake as inspirations.
