Biography
Michael Jackson (August 29, 1958 – June 25, 2009) was an American singer, songwriter, and dancer. He is regarded as one of the most influential figures in the history of pop music and one of the greatest entertainers of all time. He was the eighth child of the Jackson family and began his career as a child star with his brothers in the popular Jackson 5.
Musical Career
Jackson achieved immense success as a solo artist with his 1982 album Thriller, which is the best-selling album of all time. He released several other successful albums, including Bad, Dangerous, and HIStory. He also had a successful career as a live performer, with his iconic performances at the Motown 25th Anniversary Special, the Super Bowl XXVII halftime show, and the HIStory World Tour.
Influences and Musical Style
Jackson’s music was heavily influenced by the soul and funk music of the 1970s, as well as by disco and pop music. He was also influenced by jazz, classical, and world music. His musical style was characterized by his use of vocal techniques such as vocal hiccups, yelps, and growls, as well as his use of the “moonwalk” dance move.
