Robyn Rihanna Fenty, better known as Rihanna, is a Barbadian singer, songwriter, actress, and businesswoman. Born in Saint Michael, Barbados, she began singing at the age of seven and pursued a career in music after moving to the United States at the age of 16.
Musical Career
Rihanna signed with Def Jam Recordings at the age of 16 and released her first studio album Music of the Sun in 2005. It peaked at number ten on the Billboard 200 chart and featured the hit single “Pon de Replay”. Her second studio album, A Girl Like Me, was released in 2006 and debuted at number five on the Billboard 200 chart. It spawned the hit singles “SOS” and “Unfaithful”.
In 2007, Rihanna released her third studio album, Good Girl Gone Bad. It debuted at number two on the Billboard 200 chart and featured the hit singles “Umbrella”, “Take a Bow”, and “Disturbia”. The album was certified triple platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
Rihanna has since released seven more studio albums, including Rated R (2009), Loud (2010), Talk That Talk (2011), Unapologetic (2012), Anti (2016), and her latest album, 2018's R9.
