The Weeknd, born Abel Makkonen Tesfaye in Toronto, Canada, is a Canadian singer, songwriter, and record producer. He began his career in 2010, anonymously uploading several songs to YouTube. In 2011, he released his debut mixtape House of Balloons, which was critically acclaimed and earned him a following.
